Intelligent Transportation Systems : Traveler Information Systems

Transportation agencies are increasingly recognizing the need to create an integrated picture of travel and traffic conditions. However, current applications limit the ability to integrate the wide range of travel information being gathered by agencies, from lane closures and incidents to speed, travel times, and congestion. They also have difficulty seamlessly supporting urban and rural area requirements, forcing agencies into implementation compromises. PBS&J addresses these issues of information and geographic diversity by offering incident reporting system solutions.

PBS&J's in-house team of travel information specialists in the National Transportation Network Information Services (TNI) Division has nationally recognized experience in the areas of traveler information, data collection and analysis, and incident reporting systems and operations. PBS&J has planned and implemented 511 systems and conducted Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS) feasibility studies across the country; PBS&J also authored the original guidelines on ATIS for the 511 Deployment Coalition.

Now, PBS&J also offers a way for agencies to provide flexible incident reporting system solutions while meeting relevant U.S. and international standards—Traffic & Travel Information Center (TIC) incident reporting system software. Available to federal, state, and local transportation agencies in North America, the software can deploy as an Application Service Provider (ASP) or as a customer-hosted solution. Agencies can quickly input and collect data from manual and automated sources, process and fuse the data, then format and distribute information for variety of uses.

Whether intended to support 511 telephony services, Web sites, or vehicle navigation systems, PBS&J’s trained specialists are fully prepared to help agencies implement this cutting-edge solution to traffic incident reporting. For more information contact TIC_Services@pbsj.com.
